May 14, 2009

CounterPart, a counter-sales solution for wholesalers and distributors running SAP, was featured at the 2009 annual ASUG conference in Orlando . Craig Zampa, the Vice President of Technology for The Nailco Group (TNG), a sub $100M beauty products distributor in the midwest United States, was the primary presenter at the educational break out session titled “2705: Wholesale Point-of-sale Integration with SAP”. David Ryan, CEO and founder of Atrinity Group Inc. was a co-presenter during the session.

In the session Mr. Zampa discussed the challenges that The Nailco Group faced during their SAP implementation in the area of retail point-of-sale. The abstract of the session stated: “Conducting effective point-of-sale transactions with SAP solutions begins by leveraging IS-Retail as a business solution. But what if the primary business is distribution and the organization cannot build its structure around IS-Retail? The Nailco Group faced this challenge and successfully dealt with it in phase 1 of their effort to deploy SAP ERP Center Component (SAP ECC), doing so by leveraging counterpart storefront.” The Nailco Group processes over 25,000 transactions monthly through their retail store fronts. Their stores service salons and beauty professionals. (Business-to-Business).

Craig Zampa discussed the business requirements at TNG for their retail stores which included: transaction processing speed, accepting multiple forms of payment on a singe order, support for retail style receipt printers, bar code and magnetic stripe input device support, and integrated (with SAP) credit card processing. The CounterPart counter-sales solution was selected after reviewing solutions available from other software companies and in-house custom development options.

David Ryan discussed how CounterPart is designed to enhance, not replace, SAP by providing functionality typically not available in the core solution. In addition, Mr. Ryan executed a short demonstration of the software in use in the TNG stores.

Craig Zampa garnered excellent audience participation. Based on the exit-surveys, the session received high marks from the participants in attendance.
